Star Trek Background:
I consider myself a pretty big Star Trek fan. When i was a child in the '80s I watched reruns of The Original Series (TOS) with my aunt. I don't remember most of those episodes except Trouble with Tribbles. I was on board with Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) from pretty much the beginning and it is my favorite series in the franchise. I was super excited when Star Trek: Deep Space 9 (DS9) was announced and even had theories on the new warp speeds they would achieve, but then I discovered that it took place on a space station, and as you may know, those can't warp. I did watch a bunch of DS9, but it wasn't really my thing. I think watching it as an adult will probably be more enjoyable. I was in high school when Star Trek: Voyager (Voyager) came out. I watched a bunch of those too, but was pretty busy and kind of lost track of it. I've only seen a handfull of Star Trek: Enterprise (Enterprise) episodes, but I am a huge Scott Bakula fan and think he would portray a great captain. I've seen all the the movies more than once. I really liked the 2009 movie reboot, though I have been saying for years that the Star Trek franchise could use an non-Enterprise ship in their feature films. I've been to two Star Trek conventions, I have seen Nichelle Nichols and have met and obtained Michael Dorn's autograph. Picard will probably always be my favorite Captain. I used to read Star Trek novels.
Other Geek Qualifications:
I've met and had a brief conversation with Mark Hamil. I am a huge Star Wars fan, maybe more than I am a Star Trek fan, but I believe that these fandoms can co-exist. I like musicals, video games, comics, and super hero movies. I manage to waste too much time reading the Comicvine.com Vs. forum. I've been to every PAX East, donate regularly to Child's Play, and am a firm believer in the ESRB. When I was younger I wrote Jonny Quest Fanfiction.
Expectations:
A lot of what we watch is going to be familiar to me. I've done extra reading on on the franchise, but will attempt to limit that while we are watching. I think I'll probably see a lot of humor in it, especially The Original Series and it's movies.

Introduction: Nitalynn
My basic details are all in my profile, but here are my
Star Trek and geek details:
I come into this project having seen most of Voyager and some of Deep Space Nine and Next Generation. I have seen maybe half a season of the original and none of Enterprise. I have seen some of the movies but this was a while ago and which ones by title remain to be seen.
I fell in love with Janeway from the first time she fixed her bouffant hairdo while sparks were flying around her. I found this unendingly hilarious and as a 5th grade girl, a woman in charge of a "boy show" was enough to have me hooked!
Yes, I was born in 1984, so Voyager is the only series I watched while it aired. Just this age issue makes me a relative noob and causes Shawn to mock me at times. This is one of many reasons that I step into this project with less experience than everyone else.
Just as you always prefer your first Dr. Who (Chris Eccleston) I think Janeway will probably always be my favorite captain, so deal with it.
As a geek, I fall into the following genres of geekiness:
I love several manga books and anime movies, but I find most of them annoying. I ADORE Elfquest, but have never followed another comic book. I know how to handle a sword made of duct tape and wood, but I'd rather not. I like X-men for the moral issues that they face, but could deal with never watching another movie about some emo guy in spandex who must save a city called somethingcity and protect the girl he loves by NOT hanging around her with his big protective super powers. Arg.
A couple warnings:

A couple warnings:
- My posts might be more concerned with plot holes and inconsistent characters than whether I think Sulu or Inigo Montoya would win in a fencing tournament.
- I call them Vger, DS9 and Next Gen when talking, so this is the last time I will type the whole names of these series.
- My posts will be longer when school is not in session. That's just how my life is.
